Over the next few years there will be many opportunities for the local community to be involved in shaping the projects and learning new skills. The Nene Valley is a beautiful part of middle England, extending for around 35 miles between Northampton and Peterborough, it is largely unknown and unexplored not recognised as a destination for visitors. The countryside has a quintessentially English character and embraces exquisite country houses, wonderful gardens and countless historic curiosities. The station provides access to the extreme eastern end of the Nene park , and can be accessed by foot through the Rivergate shopping centre and from Peterborough Town bridge.
The station is located within an easy Ten minute walk of Peterborough City centre, well known for its historic Norman Cathedral.

The station platform looking towards Orton Mere. We visited today for the first time, not really sure what to expect. However, we had a lovely few hours walking around. The actual museum was good but what really made it enjoyable was the Tudor re-enactments that were really interesting. My children 7 and 8 were fascinated, particularly by the man and teenage boy Rhys I think who were talking about crime and punishment.. They must have spent half an hour talking to my girls and letting them have a go at the different weapons.
They really brought the history to life for them. Def recommend. Visited here today and learnt a lot about the local history of the area. Some good displays including some hands on.

The operating room is a bit gruesome with sound effects! The art gallery wasn't to my taste so didn't spend long in there. We took two young boys - they raced from room to room delighted to find something of interest in all of them. Roman helmets to try on, pottery to examine, soldiers to read about.
